Hospital indemnity insurance
Pays a fixed dollar amount for each day you meet the policy's conditions, regardless of your actual expenses.
It isn't a substitute for Medicare Supplement Insurance.
Separate from Medicare
Some people look at other kinds of insurance alongside their Medicare coverage. Here's what three of them are, in plain terms.

02
Separate insurance product
Generally pays a set amount if you're diagnosed with a condition named in the policy.
Which conditions count, and how much it pays, depends on the policy.
03
Separate insurance product
Medicare and most health insurance, including Medigap, don't pay for non-medical long-term care, like help with everyday activities such as dressing and bathing.
You may be eligible for some of this care through Medicaid, or through private long-term care insurance.
